Year 2010 is now over and right now marks the year of the docile rabbit according to the Chinese zodiac calendar. 2010 had been interesting for me considering it is the year of the tiger (my year whoo!) and things sure had been wild for me, gotten a pretty damn good pay raise on my new contract with IBM, zero Medical leaves taken throughout the year, and many many things wild young tigers should be having XD

This year seems a little bland compared to 2008′s Christmas, and i think nothing much happened for 2009′s Christmas. Well as i am writing this, i am preparing to go back to home town Ipoh for a Christmas party invitation from my auntie, that should be fun. If not, i still got my laptop with internet from my Horo Desire and Horo novel vol.2 that i STILL haven’t finish ^^;

From Spice and Wolf II Blu-ray special 01 i present you: Sleeping Horo! Ain’t she adorable? :3 Seriously though, Death Meets Moe just went through some rather major updates and optimization and the most apparent one would be the site’s loading improvement. (which i am still working on improving it further)

Out of random: Time to time, and especially lately, I’ve been randomly getting comments/praises/questions if I’m a designer or something, I’m really flattered to say the least, and thank you for the kind words. However not to disappoint (idunnolol), i work as IT support and my creativity is by no means anywhere the level of an actual designer would be. The site, and everything on it (be it my photography) is entirely my hobby/passion, and I have received a TON of help from my Danish friend Jesper (Aphexdk) upon creating this site. If you want to get to know an actual professional designer, you could probably check out Valho’s site.

Anyways back to the actual news post, I am sure frequent visitors would’ve noticed the occasion side bar breaking and comment section going bonkers on the colors etc. Well that’s all done (for now anyways heh) and the sites fully updated with the latest word press 2.9 and having its theme and layout tweaked a little. Not to forget, as mentioned above, i have moved all the site’s counter/statistics plugins/widgets to another isolated page so it will not load/called upon on any pages and its resulting in huge performance improvement to the site.

As quoted from the new ‘DMM Site stats‘ page if you haven’t been there already: (do pay it a visit, it’ll be a little surprising )

note: This page works fine with Firefox and Chrome but for some reason IE 8 (I am not even going to bother on anything lower than 8 now, sorry) will not display the right sidebar showing some weird ’Message: ‘gadgets’ is undefined’ error. You can go compatibility mode to get it out, however it just completely ravages the sidebar/site layout which is pointless. It only happens to this page and things will go back to normal once you navigate away by clicking ‘Home‘ or the title above the header itself (which im even linking it within this note too.

It’s almost as if 2009 new year was just yesterday with the coming of 2010 new year, time does fly and we are now entering a new year of the taiga Tiger 2010! So yeah, Happy new year 2010 to everyone out there from DMM! May you have a lootful (otakus lol) and prosperous year~

Looking back at the previous 2009 new year post,  i don’t think i will be writing up as much as before as this year, would be a ronery 1/1/2010. Instead of having gathering like the previous year, I’m basically alone (well, i guess 1 of my imouto aka little sis is at home as well lol) at home, “celebrating” this virtually on TFM chat, ronery much indeed. But yeah, what happened on 2009, lets see, DMM just had its 1 year anniversary, we had Daicon 2009, GACC 2009, Anime Festival Asia 2009, Comic Fiesta 2009, all which i just got too darn lazy to fully cover/cover them at all rofl, but believe me, those were really AWESOME events, and a majority of them were in Malaysia too!

Oh lets not forget, this year is MY year too Yes, according to the Chinese Zodiac horoscope, i am born in the year of the Tiger, looking at some forecast, i will definitely be looking forward for 2010:

18th October, the anniversary for Death Meets Moe website. I am guessing that many have been waiting for this post? I’ve noticed a huge traffic surge and F5′s on the statistics page XD Anyways sorry for the late post as usual, but hey, at least I’ve made it heh. The website has been through a lot during the whole 1 year, and accumulating almost 30k unique visits in total, with an average of 100-200 uniques per day. This would not have happened without you guys that visit to this site. Much thanks to you all

Honestly, i don’t even know what to write up for this post, my writing skills have obviously gone down the drain with the recent inactivity on my postings(not implying I’m a great writer to begin with anyways XD). Ok post is finally up, been a really hectic week as Daicon 2009 approaches around the corner. Planned to have this posted yesterday night as the new DNS are being propagated/done propagating, not to mention following up a mega-update regarding Daicon as the weekend gets closer by jcdish.

Alas, things didn’t quite as i had a few goodies arriving the past few days. Elyse is amongst the new favorite (and latest) figure at the moment, with Chihara Minori Parade DVD (available in stock!) that came in days ago so i can use it to get Chihara Minori’s autograph (yes i got the AWSM ticket), and lastly a whole bunch of Photography gear which includes my new Canon speedlite 580EX II. Needles to say, my wallet and credit card bills are in critical stages as we speak.

Anyways, as the title speaks for itself, Death Meets Moe migration is now 100% complete, and the DNS should be propagated throughout the world’s name servers already. If for whatever reason you’re having issues with the site (but you can access it with other machines/else where, or happen to know that the site isn’t dead), just head over to the windows command prompt and type in “ipconfig /flushdns”. Additionally you may want to reboot your router/browser if problem persists after flushing the DNS cache.

I won’t be elaborating much for Daicon as it would’ve probably destroyed my attempt in actually posting this very post up. JCdish would be doing it and it should be coming up very soon after this post goes up.

Lastly, counting from the timestamp of this post, HOROMAI WAIFU IS RETURNING IN SPICE AND WOLF SEASON 2!!! (caps = cruise control for awsm) in about an hour+ on Japanese airing, and another few hours for RAWs to release. So S&W fans, be sure to check it out

So many happenings in just this short blazing week, i could barely keep up to be honest. Lets hope for the best for this weekend’s Daicon 2009, and this concludes my post. As you guys can see from the post title, Death Meets Moe is finally moving the Server to paid hosting. During the migration starting now until the weekend, you may experience 1-2 days (max) of downtime, and the entire migration should be complete by this weekend first week of July, just a week before Daicon 2009. I’ll keep this short as I’m trying to make sure this posts makes it before end of June and I would actually maintain 3 posts/month and not slipping any lower than that >_<

What to expect from DMM in the future after the migration:

- More posts, and faster ones.
- MUCH speedier server
- Almost ZERO downtime (hey, that’s what the damn advertisement says)

Lastly, a BIG ‘Thank You’ towards Aphexdk aka Jesper (He posted some server news before XD). He is the person behind Death Meets Moe, from the server that is hosting it, to the initial WordPress installation and many MANY fixing and editing of various stuffs on the site. Without him, there wouldn’t be Death Meets Moe. So again, much thanks to everything that you’ve done for the site

Don’t worry though, he will still be around. And I’ll probably still bug him for various issues XD
That means the site will still go on without much troubles (hopefully, lol).

Some updates on what happened previously with the 2ish days outage, started somewhere around 4th of May. To put it simply, server went down. Cause was still unknown at the moment though my friend is suspecting HDD going bad. Rest assured things are backed up and restoration shouldn’t be a problem should a HDD death occur.

Some of you guys may also noticed that during the whole incident, stat press plug-in database went nuts and shows that the site started on the year 1999 with no statistics of unique visitors/total unique visitors. That got fixed pretty quick and nothing much was loss, just a day ish worth of traffic untracked after the site got back up.

Just a head up, Death Meets Moe will be moving to a new paid hosting server within May or possibly June (financial issues, hopefully i can still make it on May) and transition should be seamless but if things went wrong, at least you’ll know what’s going on

Lastly, a very belated welcome to JCdish for guest blogging DMM. Some of you guys may have already visited his blog @ http://honestlywhatevergoes.wordpress.com/ if not do pay a visit as it provides good coverage on the current ongoing anime titles. You guys probably also noticed that he have already started posting for DMM (in fact, 2 of the last posts were by him) hence the belated part.

He will be covering Daicon 2009 mainly as I’ve invited him to join me on my media pass. Also according to his post from here, there may be a history of TFM write up, so you guys may look forward to that

Again, do give a warm welcome for JCDish, as he’ll be able to cover up on my slowness and fill in the much needed gaps. Hell, April’s posting made a huge leap as opposed to year 2009 January – March and jc definitely played a role in it heh heh.

Got myself some Spice & Wolf Horo artbook, and a Haruhi artbook in hopes for Hiranomon Aya signature. While im a bit sour for the $$ pocket bleed, i had LOADS of fun on the hunt itself with the TFM/AS members on TFM chat room, and LYN /AS/ thread. Even bumped into some /AS/ folks at Kinokuniya bookstore. So much thanks to Aya Hirano for ending my year 2008 in a very memorable way

Also just recently i bought a bottle of Nippon Ringowork apple juice from Isetan KLCC. Im sure Horo would love it and i have plans for this beautiful bottle. (Honest to god i seriously bought this apple juice cuz of the bottle. Hail Japanese poisons)

Earlier Christmas i even celebrated christmas with TFM folks at Aiko‘s house at PTJ. Far, i know, but the cake was not a lie so it was worth it. Maybe…

Even earlier, i had my 2nd Yami shipped… along with MAI WAIFU – HORO PILLOW COVER XD

Shes like… so very soft, and fluffy, and very good to hug with. In fact, after bringing my pillow to the gathering at aiko’s place, i instantly poisoned Aiko and Loonsave into getting their own Anime pillow. Great success? Id say so myself.

Last but not least, I got my new blog cards printed! They get some minor touch up with some minor changes here and there. Overall they will look *slightly* better and people get to know my IRL name in case they somehow feel uncomfortable addressing me by my online nick XD
Not putting them up this time around as im rather lazy and there isnt that much of a change since the last one honestly. Considering the lateness of this post into 2009, i have to mention this rather epic and misfortunate happening to jolt up my year 2009. On 05-06-2009 night, i was very tired for having almost no sleep from Sunday. While hugging my Horo pillow, i just fell asleep around 11pm-12am ish. It was very early considering my usual sleep times and with that, i woke up to a very pleasant morning considering the hours ive slept through.  On 06-01-2009 morning, after i parked my car at the Kepong KTM train station, while on my way to the station itself, i encounter some 2 indians (IN B4 RACIST) and an indian lady crying and begging them. There was quite a crowd of almost 10 people watching the show so i thought it was your usual “house drama” and decided to ignore and just move on. Before i even know it, there was a maschete thats at arm’s length and also rusted, pointed to my arm and one of the indian demanded my money and belongings/handphone.

At that moment, that pleasant morning was totally shattered and “o shi-” + “FUCK!” was all that was in my head. Thankfully im pretty much a poor person (no seriously, lol), and only had like 50+MYR on me, with me showing the robber my wallet (the one i used since primary school, like over 12-13 years ago? lol) is completely empty and im still using a Nokia 3310 handphone and upon taking that out, the robber got totally uninterested and just took my cash, leaving me unharmed.

After leaving the scene i tried to call 999 (our police hotline) with my handphone and i get “the number is not in service” crap. like, lol. So i end up going to Kepong Police station to make a report and upon reporting, then they started sending out patrols. Like seriously, at that time, i think the robbers are prolly in their homes or something lol’ing over the EZ cash, or perhaps hating me for being such a piss poor victim. I mean, with so many bystanders watching the show, with some even within the safety of their own homes (as that alley is between 2 rows of houses), considering the number, versus just 2 robbers, not only they did not help, they didnt even pick up the phone to make a police report? Fantastic! I hope the robbers next target would be those faggots right in their own homes.
