After a long hiatus, be it being randomly lazy or just simply busy (my new job, well, technically new job, sorta takes up a tad bit more of my private time.) hindering my posting, i think it is about time i continue working on Daicon. You know, i REALLY like to have a complete event write up and past track record isn’t doing well (AFA08/CF08 lol) and i am fearing for the upcoming GACC. The salvation to that though, is that I’m not an official media/blog affiliate for GACC nor am i interested in being one, so that would take a wee bit of “pressure” off and i could pretty much do as i pleased, which includes, not giving a shit a bout it at all… nah j/k lol. I am attending GACC ^^;

So continuing from previous highlight, which you can find here, or the entire Daicon related posts right here, today’s highlight would be featuring Solomon Freeman aka Wisefreeman aka Dance Trooper!

Long story short, that is basically the most accurate cosplayer of Danny Choo. Either head over to the link, or refer here: http://www.dannychoo.com/profile/eng/ for info about Danny Choo.

Totally loving the performance that Solomon put up, and someone actually recorded it too which you may view here:

Click here to view the embedded video.

(click on the youtube link twice to open a separate link that allows HQ playback if you prefer so)

LOL at the technical hiccup at the start But yeah, awsm performance overall

Also a couple more others which Solomon just updated me with:

Click here to view the embedded video.

Trooper Karaoke

Click here to view the embedded video.

Salary Trooper

Click here to view the embedded video.

Caramell Dansen Trooper

There is also a second performance which is a group performance. And for Solomon, he is paired with Mio (you may check out her previous gallery) which was pretty entertaining as well. Not to forget the mishaps (which, bear in mind, rather in character for Mio) during stage which you can see below(including a newly updated YouTube video):

Click here to view the embedded video.

Trooper and Mio dancing group performance, again, can be seen from my gallery here.

Like the previous gallery. for the rest of the pictures, simply head over to the full gallery right here: http://www.quazacolt.com/galleries/daicon-2009-day-1-part-2-highlight-gallery-dance-trooper/

So all’s left is Day 2, and the event coverage Aw hell, i think id just skip the whole coverage altogether and just photo spam JC’s previous all-text posts lol, we’ll see how it goes.

=page updated with YouTube video clips thanks to Solomon=

Phew! TONS and TONS of pictures to process from the photo shoot sessions of both days. Considering Jcdish did a fine job on the previous write ups (much thanks again!), and god knows when i would actually get my own write up done, i figured that the most appropriate thing to do now is to get out those much awaited pictures

Another thing to note, based on past ACG event experiences, it would still take time for me regardless on the full day coverage pictures, and since most people are more eager for the main dish more than anything, i will first do a “highlight gallery” for Daicon 2009 Day 1, which are a few K-On cosplay photoshoot sessions. Later on i will post the full coverage pictures.

In case you aren’t familiar with K-On (oh rly?), you may refer here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K-on

Just so i get this clear, i don’t watch k-on, not a single episode, and i don’t particularly hate it till now.(inb4flame) Almost a huge majority of first day pictures are k-on, something i *quite frankly* have zero interests with. Alas, i still went on with it simply because the cosplays are accurate and its being played by gorgeous/cute/pretty (insert moar appraisals ya?) girls. And boy am i glad i did went along. Not only did i learned something new from valho (will explain a little on a later post), the pictures I’ve taken were quite, surprising, even to myself. You be the judge:

Mio

Yui

Mugi

Aside from the lack of proper wig and eye brow (really thick ones) for Mugi, Mio and Yui were pretty accurate. (Refer to the first picture) Unfortunately, Ritsu wasn’t present and i was informed that she is stuck in Austrafailia (hai shinn!)

For the rest of the pictures, simply head over to the full gallery right here: http://www.quazacolt.com/galleries/daicon-2009-day-1-highlight-gallery-k-on/

There will be a part 2 as well for day 1, so stay tuned. Day 2 highlights are done, however being put on hold due to a cosplayer’s request. Once that gets sorted out it will be up immediately.

=VERY MINOR edit due to someone raging LOLOLOLOLOLOL=

First of all, this is going to be picture-less, until the DaiCon committee sees fit to release some to us.

Lets be frank: this is the main event of DaiCon. I know people who came from East Malaysia just to catch her concert, and there were even some fans who travelled all the way from Japan. They were so dedicated to Minorin they prepared flags and lightsticks for concert goers, and had the DaiCon committee teach the people gathered in the hall how to wave them. Slow motions for slow songs, fast motions for fast songs… ok, nothing too hard – until you see them waving the sticks non stop for an hour and a half. They must be weight lifters one and all.

I missed the start of the concert, but I can tell you that from beyond the barrier, the cheers and whoops as the first beats of Contact ~ 詩人の旅 started playing, was amazingly loud. Contact is the title track of Minorin’s 2nd album, and one of my favorites, so you can imagine how hurriedly I made my way into the concert area. I found Minorin on stage, in a shirt and a silver knee length dress, singing her heart outs, while the fans waved the lightsticks to the beat of the song, jumping up an down all the while. It was awesome – I’ve been to concerts by big name bands where the crowds were far less enthusiastic, and trust me when I say the crowd plays a huge part in a concert’s success. Already Minorin’s ‘mini concert’ looked to be not so mini in spirit.

In between songs, Minorin too the chance to talk to the crowd. Unfortunately most of what she said was lost to me, but she did ask us if we were having fun (tanoshi?), to which the crowd replied with an enthusiastic yes. I think having the Japanese fans around helped a lot – they were there to bail out the Malaysian fans on one or two occasions when the Japanese got too complex for most to understand.

The songs that really got the crowd going were the expected few: Nagato Yuki’s character song 雪、無音、窓辺にて, 純白サンクチュアリィ(Junpaku Sanctuary, my favorite Minorin song!) and Paradise Lost. She also performed her newest single, Tomorrow’s Chance – I believe she said it was the first time she would be performing it live and she was nervous? Someone tell her she performed the song perfectly.

Throughout the 10 song set, Minorin kept up the rapport with the fans, and said ‘arigato’ so many times I started feeling embarrassed. If anyone should be saying ‘thank you’, it should be us in the hall, because Minorin was seriously performing for us. The crowd was probably far from her biggest, but she was so friendly and made the concert so personal that I seriously regretted not paying for AWSM tickets.

In almost no time at all we were at the last track, everlasting…, also the final track off Minorin’s latest album. Before she had even had the chance to sing that song, there were already cries of ‘en-co-ru’, which she laughed off. When she finally finished the song and left the stage, the chanting of ‘en-co-ru’ started in earnest. I’m not sure how long this went on for, but it felt like ages to me. I was half expecting no encore but the fog machine started up, and pretty soon we had Minorin back on stage, dressed in a Kebaya (and looking stunning!).

For her encore, Minorin performed 3 more songs. The crowd lapped up every minute of it, and when she finally left for real, I think everyone was satisfied and happy. Dear miss Chihara Minori, you said the best part of working abroad was the fan’s smiles? Then you’ll be glad to know that we enjoyed your concert so much we were smiling right from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you so much!

Going to an event both as an exhibitor and as an official blogger was a good idea, or so I thought. Unfortunately it didn’t work out so well. It might have been possible at other conventions, but with the stage partitioned off from the booth area, this was pretty much a no go.

But never mind that. I still saw quite a bit of day 2, including the main event of DaiCon – Chihara Minori’s concert.

Day two was mostly dominated by the finals of the cosplay and karaoke competitions. I missed most of the cosplay, but I do know that Mario won the event. The karaoke was tons better than day one. Gone were the unmentionables, and there were truly a few able singers performing. The contestant I was rooting for sang the full version of Kiseki Ni Umi, which I thought she performed pretty well. It nabbed her 2nd place. First place went to a girl in pink. Unfortunately I don’t think my partner Quazacolt had time to take pictures of the prize giving (he had prior commitments, more on that later), so we’ll have to make do.

Other than that, day 2 was actually pretty ‘bleh’. Nothing much was going on, and I had already dropped by the booths on day 1. KKnM still had a queue all the way til noon, and they did some pretty brisk business. One of the game booths had BlazeBlue running on the PS3, and that attracted a crowd.

As for cosplayers that showed up, my personal favorite was the 1:1 scale Al Azif from Demonbane. I later found out she was also Yui from day 1. She’s really very cute, and because she’s so small sized (should I say, loli?), she made a lovely Al Azif. There was also an Another Blood (who came all the way from Singapore) and one more Al Azif. Due to the slight difference in wig color, we took to calling them ‘white’ and ‘purple’.

These 3 cosplayers are to blame for the lack of event photographs on day 2. Quaz, Valho and Kuzuryu actually had a shoot scheduled with them, and for most part of the day they were off God knows where snapping pics, leaving me to wallow in misery at TFM. They get the girls, I get the PVCs.

Around 2pm, the lights in the hall went off with no prior announcement. This kinda ended day 2, as nothing much could be done in the dark. TFM started packing up for one, and I heard that some other doujin booths weren’t very happy that they had to stop business. Later I heard that the lights in the hall were controlled by 2 switches, which is really LOLWUT. The lights going off did however mean that Minorin’s concert was beginning very soon… I’ll cover that in a separate post.

DaiCon was pretty much over after the concert. There was a prize giving ceremony going on for the winners of all the contests, but most booths were either packing or already gone. TFM had our traditional group shots, including one with the 1:1 scale Al Azif. Last I heard, Kuzu had fucked up on the pictures. If he really did he’s a dead man.

Final thoughts on DaiCon soon.

As 6pm rolled around, the much anticipated special guest of DaiCon – Chihara Minori’s Q&A and autograph signing session finally began. Just before that, the DaiCon committee had ushered ticket holders and media people into the stage area, and had been trying to whip the crowd into shouting out ‘Chihara!’ ‘Minori!’ to greet Minorin when she showed up. These efforts kept falling flat halfway through as the crowd ran out of enthusiasm – that was until Minorin showed up, at which point everybody found a renewed surge of energy and wild cheering, as well as the chanting of ‘Minorin!, Minorin!’, set the tone for an amazing Q&A session.

Now before we go into the Q&A session proper, just let me say that Miss Chihara was simply gorgeous in person, even more so than in any of her photobooks I’ve seen. Dressed in a orange and blue number, she was the epitome of charisma as she stepped onto the stage, covered her mouth with both palms in a show of amazement (at the greeting she had just recieved), and finally said ‘konichiwa’ to the hall. If she had ordered us all to fall on katanas then, I think we’d all have done so.

After a 5 minute photography frenzy, Miss Chihara finally got settled down and we started the Q&A session in earnest. Ticket buyers had earlier on been told to submit questions they wanted Minorin to answer, and the lucky few were now picked to pose their questions personally to her.

If it was at all possible, I would give you an actual transcription of the Q&A. However, due to the usage of Japanese, this isn’t very feasible, so the below will be my interpretation of events.

The first question asked was ‘What is the most enjoyable, and the hardest thing, about performing outside of Japan’. Minorin said that for her, the most enjoyable aspect was seeing ‘us’, as in the fans, smile. This got the crowd cheering. Her answer to the 2nd part of the question was that due to how rushed the event was, she hasn’t had enough sleep. This of course had the crowd going ‘awwww’ with sympathy.

The second question: would Minorin come again to Malaysia, if there was another event such as this. Minorin answered that Malaysia was a beautiful country, and asked us to invite her if back again for events, and added that indeed, she would love to come, even if it wasn’t work related.

The third question was posed in Japanese, so I’m not sure what was asked, but Minorin’s reply was that she would love to come back after retirement, and perhaps stay for life.

Question four (in Japanese): What has been the most challenging role for her so far? To which Minorin answered: Nagato Yuki from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu, because she is so demure and quiet, and expressionless. She further added that she would practice Yuki’s lines with the script after recording sessions, even though all she had was one or two words (if you have seen Haruhi, you’ll know this for a fact).

Question five (also in Japanese): What has been the role that she found most similar to her own nature? Minorin said that it was Shirakawa Nanaka (from Da Capo II). Nanaka is an active girl who loves to sing, much like herself. Also, Nanaka was always true to herself.

Question six (again in Japanese): Which seiyuu does she look up to as a role model. Minorin picked Hisakawa Aya, who voiced Natsume Maya alongside her own Natsume Aya in Tenjou Tenge (note: Natsume Aya was Minorin’s first ever seiyuu performance). Minorin further elaborated that when she was starting out, Hisakawa Aya would take care of her and give her guidance in voice acting, and that she was very impressed with Hisakawa san. Indeed, Hisakawa san became almost like an older sister to her.

The next question was actually asked by a Japanese, who had an exchange with Minorin in their native language. All I can tell you from this exchange is that Minorin likes ‘Sambal Udang’.

At this point, the committee opened the session to the hall. The first guy picked was ‘Chiaka’ (he had a huge Chiaki mask). His question was quite simple, but strange in a way. He asked if Minorin was married. There was a slight problem in communication due to Chiaki being soft spoken, but when Minorin finally got the question she actually giggled til she bent over. She asked back ‘what do you like about me’, and seemed to be having a good time, but Chiaki being Chiaki, had trouble answering. His final answer was a simple ‘moe’, to which Minorin said thank you, and answered that she wasn’t thinking of marriage yet, and would like to focus on her career first.

The penultimate question of the session was what got Minorin into the seiyuu business. She replied that her initial interest was singing, and that she attended music school. There, due to her soft voice, the teachers suggested a career as a voice actress. She took them up on that advice and thus here she is today. This question was also asked in Japanese, which resulted in Minorin praising the level of Japanese fluency amongst Malaysians.

The final question of the day went to a very brave 15 year old girl, who asked ‘what was the most memorable/funniest moment so far in your career’. Minorin said that it was when Sugita Tomokazu, who voices Kyon in Haruhi, ad libbed a scene with her. The end result of that was so good that the producers decided to go with it. The nature of the scene wasn’t explained, so don’t ask me. I’d like to know as well.

That ended the Q&A session, and holders of AWSM tickets were herded onto the stage in groups to get their items autographed. This part of the event was quite personal, with Minorin signing items on the spot and shaking hands. Someone (e-jump) managed to hand Minorin a teddy bear (a Minami-ke reference. Minorin voiced Chiaki who has a bear named Fujioka). The autographing itself lasted past 7pm, after which Minorin said ‘Malaysia something something, bakayaro (no, she wasn’t being rude. I couldn’t really catch what she said though. If you did do comment and I’ll edit it in)’ in Chiaki’s voice and left the hall.

All in all, a very satisfying event. Minorin was down-to-earth, humble, and friendly, and the DaiCon committee did a good job handling things. Some minor gripes about the way translation was handled – I would have preferred a more professional translator – but overall, the fans left satisfied and eager for day 2′s concert.

With that, I end day 1′s coverage. Its 1.30am and I have to be up pretty soon for day 2, so good night and see you tomorrow!

p.s. Again, this post is incomplete without pictures. You will have to wait for Quaz to go through the 300+ pictures he took and sort them, but he does have photos of Minorin, so don’t worry. They’ll be up soon.

DaiCon has been the talk amongst Malaysian anime fans for the pass few months, especially after the announcement that Miss Chihara Minori would be attending as guest of honor. Well, the weekend has finally arrived! Today was day 1 of the event. How was it? Read on…

Arriving early due to commitments as an exhibitor, I walked into a hall abuzz with vendors, exhibitors and the DaiCon committee itself doing last minute preparation. The hall that DaiCon was held in was big and spacious enough that booths weren’t cramped. Air conditioning was good as well. Mild enough to keep the sweat away, but not cold to the extend of being chilly.

The stage area at the front was partitioned off from the booth area due to the nature of the event, but more on that later. Suffice to say that most of the early morning was lost to setting up over at TFM’s display area.

DaiCon started right on time, with the opening ceremony speeches beginning at 11am sharp. Unfortunately I will have to rely on Quaz for this part of the coverage, as I found myself in what was to be an epic queue that formed right outside KKnM’s booth, even before they were open for business. It was clear that I wasn’t the only one looking forward to original anime merchandise. While I got in early, the queue itself was to last until late evening when KKnM closed up. KKnM was by far the most popular booth of the entire day.

The first event after the opening ceremony was the cosplay competition. I only caught snippets of this on the giant screen, because the way the hall was set up, keeping an eye on TFM’s exhibit meant being on the other side of the partitioned hall. A few of the more notable cosplayers included the K-On! girls: Mio, Yui and Mugi (Ritsu was supposedly in Australia). All 3 beautiful young ladies were very popular with the crowd, as I’m sure the photos Quaz will upload later will attest to. The Yui cosplayer’s voice was extremely similar to the anime Yui’s. Her monologue during her act on stage had me in disbelieve – she was that Yui-like.

Particularly popular with the crowd was Solomon, aka wisefreeman aka dannychoo.com.my. This time around he showed up in full dance trooper armor, and his routine on stage had the crowd cheering wildly.

After the solo cosplay event, we had a short lunch break, after which the show resumed with the karaoke contest. DaiCon’s committee elected to go with no prescreening, so that meant the contest had its share of… lurid moments. The song selection was surprising. There was Angela’s Shangri-La, performed by a girl who had quite the powerful set of vocals. Gukichan chose one of Kukui’s song from Rozen Maiden. Even the Dance Trooper sang – his muffled (he had his storm trooper helmet on) rendition of Bump of Chicken’s Karma, complete with fake guitar playing, again had the crowd cheering itself hoarse.

My favorite however was Kiseki ni Umi, a song from the Record of Lodoss War. I didn’t quite catch the singer’s name, but she advanced to the finals tomorrow, as did gukichan and a few other very able singers.

A slight grouse with the Karaoke event – the sound system could have been better. Backing music was sometimes too soft, while the mic was rather loud.

When I could, I took some time away from TFM to wander the hall. One thing that struck me was how few doujin booths there were – probably less than 10. The Go exhibition and the board/card games each had a room on the 2nd floor of the hall, and both events had their share of followers. There were multiple Weiss Schwarz running in the board game hall – seeing moe cards go up against characters from shonen action anime was quirky.

The Macross collectors of Malaysia were also at DaiCon, in what I believe is their first exhibition. On display was Valkyries from multiple eras in the Macross franchise – VF-00′s, VF-01′s, the anti UN planes, VF-25′s, and even a Koenig monster. These guys also had May’n signed CD’s on display, and they even brought an LCD monitor to show May’n in concert. Good show guys! I hope we’ll be seeing more of you at events from now on.

Of course, I can’t leave out TFM. Our collection is huge, and its growing every month. Our display at DaiCon runs up to about 250 figures, but that number is actually far short of what we have in total – a lack of space had us shuffling some of the older figures out of our selection.

That about covers the booths. There’s also a maid cafe at DaiCon but I’ve yet to find the time to pay them a visit. There’s also the now ubiquitous Guitar Hero booth, which attracted a constant flow of people, but I doubt Guitar Hero needs any introduction.

Day 1 ended with Chihara Minori’s Q&A session. I’ll be covering that in the next post, which will be up soonish.

p.s. Pictures of the event will be added later by Quaz, so check back later. You will want to, if only to check out the K-On! cosplayers.

The time, is ~4:00AM as i write this post, and being after 12AM, yes, it is finally the day – 11th July 2009 Saturday, Daicon 2009. Just a few more hours time. This is it.

Before we kick off towards probably the biggest ACG event of the year for Malaysia, just a few more final updates regarding Daicon:

Original Daicon floor plan: http://www.daiconnews.com/floorplan.php

- The Figure Mall (TFM) Figure display has moved from the room towards outside main hall. This was due to some bad sunlight and heat during the afternoon to evening. And we all know direct sunlight + heat is bad for figure health ^^

- GameAxis Malaysia is also having their CELGames road show. Go and show off your skills on the latest games from FIFA ’09 to Red Alert 3 and many more!

- FAQ Page updates: http://www.daiconnews.com/about_faq.php

and lastly as a reminder:

Finally, and the most important thing. Due to MMU security policy, all visitors to the university MUST be registered at the entrance, but we’ve managed to lift that requirement by using a special Visitor’s DaiCon pass! Please download the pass from our website, print it out on a piece of A4 paper and place it on your vehicles dashboard to gain hassle-free entry to our university! The pass also allows your vehicles access to the Visitor’s Parking Bays during DaiCon, so please keep it there at all times during our event!

Ok, its like, almost 4:30AM, gotta get some rest for big day in like 2-3 hours time. Hope to see you guys there!!!

DaiCon is just around the corner, and there has been a final flurry of updates from the committee. Probably the most important thing is this:

Due to MMU security policy, all visitors to the university MUST be registered at the entrance, but we’ve managed to lift that requirement by using a special Visitor’s DaiCon pass! Please download the pass from our website, print it out on a piece of A4 paper and place it on your vehicles dashboard to gain hassle-free entry to our university! The pass also allows your vehicles access to the Visitor’s Parking Bays during DaiCon, so please keep it there at all times during our event!

Make things easier for yourself and do that, and tell your friends who are going as well! More updates after the jump.

Now for the bad news: AWSM tickets are sold out! We did warn you to grab them fast didn’t we? All is not lost however. DaiCon is now selling Enthusiast tickets! Priced at RM50, it will allow you entree to both days’ Minorin events! You can get your tickets here.

For those lucky people who have AWSM tickets, here‘s the latest on the items you can get autographed, and here’s me making life easier for you:

Chihara Minori original CDs / DVDs.

Chihara Minori posters (included in the CDs or DVDs).

All ORIGINAL character CD albums that are voiced by Chihara Minori

ORIGINAL Seiyuu Magazines from Japan (Voice Newtype, etc. etc.) with Chihara Minori on the FRONT COVER.

ORIGINAL photobooks of Chihara Minori.

DaiCon event booklet

Plain whiteboards.

Please be aware there are certain rules you must comply to during Minorin’s sessions. Strictly no photography, and seriously, don’t make a fool of yourself ‘kay?

Now on to other, less important things (compared to Minorin lah). DaiCon will be having a Seiyuu exhibition, featuring some of the more renowned people in the industry. Personally I’m hoping for stuff on Nazuka Kaori (Eureka, Nunnally, Hiromi Yuasa), but my gut is telling me Hirano Aya and Fukuyama Jun. Yes? Oh and don’t forget KugiRie.

This next one is for the GunPla hobbyist. A Gundam transportion device has broken down on the MMU grounds and the technicians are trading Gundam parts for food, repairs and mercy (lest we attack them with our primitive weapons and take everything). However, stock is limited so be fast! (in other words: Free Gundam kit giveaway, first come first served).

There will also be a GunPla competition, limited to 20 entries. Yep, this one is for the ‘pros’ (sorry snap-build-and-panel-lining people). The prize? Limited MG kits! Definitely something to drool over.

Speaking of competitions, there will be the ubiquitous Art Competition at DaiCon. Limited to 20 spots as well. Art competitions are awesome if you ask me. I tend to wander around looking at the entries late on the 2nd day of most conventions, and I’ve seen some really amazing works of art in the last 2 years. Hopefully DaiCon will continue with the trend.

Moving on. Have you heard of something called Weiβ Schwarz? I wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for Kev over at TFM. Anyway, WS has been described as Yu-Gi-Oh with moe. Yep, its a collectible card game, but the cards feature everything from Clannad characters to Disgeae. Curious? Then attend the contest/workshop. If you do, please beat the shit out of Kev’s Clannad deck.

[Edit: Kev claims he doesn't have a Clannad deck, just the cards. He says he's building a Lucky Star deck. All the more reason to beat the shit out of it.]

Not keen on moe? Join ToyBox’s board game exhibition instead. I remember speaking to a guy from ToyBox at an event before, and he told me how ToyBox started from a bunch of guys who loved board games but couldn’t get any over here. They started importing stuff and then decided to turn it into a career. Hats off to you guys!

Still with me? Wall of text hasn’t crushed you yet? Sweet!

What’s an anime convention if you can’t buy anime related merchandise right? Don’t worry. Besides the plethora of doujin booths on booth days, TFM will also be selling Figmas and Nendroids, and Resinya scaled figures in collaboration with Kareshi Kanojyo no Mise (you read that right. Collaboration. TFM has already been selling merchandise from KKnM in Malaysia, so if you’re looking for Cospa goods you know where to go).

Oh, and Kev (God-Emperor of TFM, aka taugeh) says ‘COME FOR THE LULZ! xD’

If you find figures too expensive (they are actually. All of us TFMer’s eat grass and breath in the morning fog for substance), you can try your luck with the Great Wall of Gashapon ! Be warned, Gashapon can be addictive. It can also lead to you buying scaled figures. I’m living proof of that.

Finally, KKnM, the official distributor of Cospa goods in Singapore, will be opening a stall at DaiCon! This is an awesome chance for you to get your hands on stuff like T-shirts and phone straps. Probably going to be my first stop of the day (and I get into the hall earlier too!). Official merchandisssssssssssssssse…. yes preciousssssssss…

Its heartening to see DaiCon’s committee put so much effort into an event that won’t be netting them a single cent. With all they’ve done, I think we can all look forward to an AWSM event aye? Be there, or be the proverbial square!

See you guys this weekend!

Are you a J-pop fan? Do the singing bishies make your heart flutter and turn your legs to jelly? Do you wish you could have the left over mineral bottle from that heart-trob’s concert?

If you answered yes to all the above, then you have one more reason to head to DaiCon! DaiCon, in partnership with 56th_avenue, will be holding a J-pop exhibition featuring artiste from seminal talent agency, Johnny & Associates. These are the guys who unearthed talents like Arashi, NEWS, Kanjani8, KAT-TUN, and Hey! Say! JUMP. What more, not only will you get to see collectibles, you can actually purchase them and bring them home!

Is your heart going into overdrive yet? Wait, there’s more.

Want a specific item? Don’t want to risk your luck? You can preorder your loot right now, this very moment, at 56th_avenue! Note that the site’s operator will be heading personally to Japan and Johnny’s Entertainment’s store, so you’ll be getting items direct from there! The deadline for such orders is the 1st of May, so hurry up! Can’t make that deadline? Not to worry, there’ll be more orders coming via mail!

Once you’ve gotten your items, what better to show off to other fellow fans? Along with the exhibition will be an area, aptly named Johnny’s Corner, where J-pop fans can gather. Make new friends who share the same interests as you do! Share that KAT-TUN endorsed bubblegum you just bought!

Don’t trust me? Go here and check out the official news!
